“It's very nice when they want to understand you,” - this is how the resident of the Center for Adaptation Igor speaks about the asylum workers.
A 54-year-old man came to our Center after being released from prison. During his imprisonment, his housing in Sumy region became unfit for living. Therefore, in order not to be on the street, Igor came to the Shelter of BO “Light of Hope”. Over time, I found a job to my liking.
“I am engaged in grinding and preparing furniture MDF facades, I collect cabinet furniture. Nothing new for me. He did the same thing before his imprisonment. I am pleased that I found a common language with the team, so I have a comfortable job,” says the man.
Igor puts aside part of the earned money in order to rent housing later.
“In order not to get on the wrong path again, those who quit need a roof over their heads. This is the very first. The Center is warm, there is food and conditions. And also a good attitude. They hear you, understand and do everything so that you also behave like this and do not make old mistakes,” Igor notes.
The activities of the Adaptation Center for the homeless and released from places of imprisonment of the NGO “Light of Hope” are carried out with the support of the program of social security and social protection of the population of the Poltava urban territorial community “Turbota”.
