Mrs. Elena (name changed) applied to the office of the Kremenchug Hospital Trust. The woman underwent a medical commission for further employment. The HIV test was positive.
“I was overwhelmed by panic. I was afraid that I would not be able to get a job now, start a relationship with my husband, I would not be able to give birth to a child,” - Elena, a client.
Our social worker Svitlana Butenko reassured the client and explained to the woman that taking antiretroviral therapy allows controlling HIV, reduces the risk of transmission of the virus, and also allows you to live a full life.
“The individual reaction to such news can be very different, but it is important that each person receives proper support and truthful information. This helps reduce panic,” - Svetlana Butenko, social worker.
Ms. Elena was admitted to the dispensary on the same day and began antiretroviral therapy.
