The team of the charitable organization “Light of Hope” organized a quest for Mirgorod students, which addressed the topic of safe migration, employment and revealed the real risks of falling into slavery.
The event was dedicated to the European Day Against Trafficking in Persons, which is celebrated annually on October 18.
Two teams of the Separate Structural Unit “Mykola Gogol Mirgorod Professional College” of the National University “Poltava Polytechnic named after Yuri Kondratiuk” took part in the quest. The playground became the territory of the House of Culture of the Mirgorod City Council.
“The main task of the teams was to get a job profitably. The participants went through all the steps towards this goal, as in real life: they chose vacancies, communicated with potential employers, prepared documents, went on a trip,” said Tetiana Pitsenko, coordinator of the anti-trafficking area of NGO “Light of Hope”.
The main objective of the quest is for participants to acquire skills and learn knowledge that will help identify risky situations related to human trafficking and prevent them.
At the Final quest station, representatives of the organizers and both teams gathered for reflection. The peculiarity of the game is that this discussion and the experience gained by the participants are more important than the fact of passing the competition itself.
“Now I am much calmer and more clear about how to act in such situations. Because there were moments when it became scary”, - the participant of the quest Mikhail shared his impressions.
“We were always in a hurry because we wanted to see what was next. But if we carry that into real life, then, I think, we would be more attentive. Everything was very interesting,” said Anna, the participant of the quest.
NGO “Light of Hope” organized the quest as an executive partner in Poltava region of the Representation of the International Organization for Migration in Ukraine. The activities are implemented within the framework of the IOM Mission Protection Program in Ukraine with the support of the Government of Japan. Comprehensive organizational support in the event was carried out by specialists of the Center of Social Services of Mirgorod City Council.
