“This one will be needed for dirty work!” — with these words Vitaliy, a Lugansk resident, was captured by militants 10 years ago. The man was forced to be a cleaner in the torture chamber of a terrorist group. For six months, he saw with his own eyes the bullying of dozens of people and himself suffered from the cruelty of his executioners. The man was repeatedly beaten, shot through his leg, starved. Vitaly managed to break free only due to the fact that an influential local resident was tortured. His friends arranged for the prisoner to escape. At the same time, others were saved.
Vitaly's story proves that, unfortunately, human trafficking still exists in the modern world. And in the territories where there is war, the risk of falling into slavery increases.
Therefore, NGO “Light of Hope” works hard in the direction of combating human trafficking and provides material and psychological assistance to victims such as Vitaliy.
And on International Human Rights Day, we want to draw even more attention to this shameful phenomenon, which has no place in the modern world.
